Storyline:The UNLV men's soccer team traveled to Dallas, Texas for two games in the 2000 SMU Nike Classic last weekend ... the Rebels were shutout by high-powered SMU on Friday, 7-0 and then got some redemption on Sunday, in a close, down-to-the-wire match with Tulsa ... senior defender Ryan Bindrup sealed the deal with a goal at the 87:05 mark off a free kick from junior midfielder Tyler Turchi for the 1-0 victory ... senior goalie Robert Ackah saved 16 shots in the victory, improving his record to 2-0 on the season and has not given up a goal this season ... the Rebels enter the week with a 2-3-1 record, beginning conference play against Cal Poly, on Friday, Sept. 22 ... on Sunday, the Rebels travel to San Diego for a non-conference game against the Toreos.

UNLV Head Coach Barry Barto:The winningest coach in the history of Rebel soccer, Barto begins his 19th season at the helm of the UNLV men's program and his fourth as the school's Director of Soccer ... he has a record of 177-137-34 (.557) at UNLV and a career record of 262-162-40 (.608) in 24 years of coaching ... since his arrival in 1982, Barto has built Rebel soccer into a nationally recognized program, with five NCAA tournament appearances ... he recorded his 250th career win on Oct. 6, 1998 with the team's victory over St. Mary's.

About Cal Poly:The Mustangs enter the week at 2-3-1 on the season, coming off a 3-2 loss at Illinois-Chicago which dropped their record to 2-3-1 on the seaon ... the Mustangs haven't won a game since a 1-0 victory over Valparaiso on Sept. 3 and are 0-3-1 on the current road trip ... head coach Wolfgang Gartner returns eight starters from last season's 4-11-3 team that finished 1-4-2 in the MPSF Mountain Division ... junior Johnny Cummins returns for the Mustangs at forward ... this season Cummins has already compiled four goals, two assists and ten points ... also returning is defensive player Eli McGarva who has started all six games for Cal Poly this season ... UNLV leads the all-time series 2-0.

About San Diego:The Toreos enter the week at with a 5-1 record after winning both games of the USD Classic last weekend ... USD defeated Fresno State 5-1 in the first match and notched two goals in the second half of the Cal State Northridge match to defeat the Matadors ... head coach Seamus McFadden is in his 22nd year at the helm of the San Diego soccer program, compiling a 203-162-27 record ... last season the Toreos finished 14-4 and added a West Coast Conference championship, their fourth under McFadden, and also their seventh trip to the NCAAs since 1990 ... McFadden was named WCC Coach of the Year a record 6th time in `99 ... only three starters return from last season including sophomore Sy Reeves who compiled three goals and four assists last season as a freshman ... also returning is sophomore forward Tyler Conley who scored six goals, two assists and was third on the team in scoring with 14 points ... UNLV leads the all-time series, 10-4-1.
