LAS VEGAS - The UNLV men's soccer team opened the 2000 Coors Light Invitational with a 3-0 victory over Drury University Friday night at Johann Field.

The Rebels opened the scoring with the game winner in the 18th minute. Senior Matt Thompson put a ball in the upper shelf of the net off a pretty bicycle kick by sophomore Reggie Bolden who tallied his second assist in as many games.

Three minutes later, junior Jason Melendez was fouled inside the box and earned a penalty shot. Melendez scored his team-leading sixth goal at the 21:21 mark, giving the Rebels a 2-0 advantage. No one scored the rest of the half.

As the second half began, the Rebels continued to attack the Panthers from every angle. The Rebels fired nine shots in the second half giving them a 14-9 advantage in that department. At the 70:03 mark, Bolden manuevered his way through traffic, getting behind a defender and junior Andrew Hooker sent a ball just infront of Bolden for a one-on-one with the goalie. As the goalie committed to the ball, Bolden fired a shot past him, giving the Rebels a 3-0 lead and Bolden's second goal in as many games.

UNLV will conclude the Coors Light Invitational on Sunday at noon where it faces Louisville, who scored two late goals to defeat San Diego State, 2-0 in the late game on Friday night.
