Post Game Notes

Sept. 30, 2000

UNLV HEAD COACH JOHN ROBINSON

On Air Force: "I think Air Force is a very good team. Their offense is fantastic and we were scared. I still think they can win out the rest of the year and win the conference championship. They're that good."

On outrushing the Falcons: "No one outrushes Air Force. That's sweet."

On the UNLV defense: "Our defense made play after play tonight. They have been phenomenal this year. It is hard to single out just one player. KT (Kevin Thomas) was a huge weapon at corner."

On the UNLV offense: "We spread the ball around tonight. We needed to find some running and we did in the first half. We tried to come at them at full speed and they play a style where that can hurt them. It was a great night for Steven Costa, he did a fabulous job."

On quarterback Jason Thomas: "When he has time to throw the ball, he's pretty good. When he decides to run the ball, he's pretty good doing that too."

On taking the team to see the movie "Remember the Titans" Friday: "I'm going to show that movie every Friday. I'm going to call Denzel (Washington) and buy the movie from him so I can show it every week. It's a great movie."

On the win: "I don't believe in turning points in a game. I think we can credit it to playing the whole game. That was key and is to any game. There wasn't one big stand to point to. It's a big win but it's just a beginning for us."

On next week's game vs. UNR: "We picked a good time to have a great game. It's a sweet day for us. Now we get ready for our state rival."

"We wanted to go out and make a statement - show people that UNLV is not a pushover at home. The locker room was crazy before the game. We felt it last night after going to the movie. We came out pumped up. The crowd was in it and it really helped. The atmosphere was crazy. We know we can play with anyone and we showed that tonight."

AIR FORCE HEAD COACH FISHER DEBERRY

On the Game: "I salute UNLV's team, they were ready to play. Jason Thomas is going to be a marquee player in this league. He possibly grew up a lot today with some help from us."

"We were our own worst enemy today. We didn't take care of our scoring opportunities. When you don't score in the second half it is difficult to win games."

"We didn't kick well. We didn't tackle well enough. We didn't make enough plays and they did. Our team will learn from this experience."

On Jeremi Rudolph: "We knew he was a good back. We let him have some big plays, which was something that we haven't done in our first three games."

On UNLV's Defense: "We have to give UNLV's defense a hand. They were really able to zero in on the speed of the game in the second half."
