Salt Lake City, UTAH - The Utah women's volleyball team, currently ranked 18th in the nation, defeated UNLV in three games (30-27, 30-20, 30-23) on Friday night at Crimson Court.
UNLV falls to 5-8 on the season, 2-4 in Mountain West Conference play. Utah improves to 10-4 overall, 4-2 in league play.
Patricia Assuncao led the Rebels with ten kills and five digs.
Sheila Ocasio-Clemente added nine kills with a .900 (9-0-10) attack percentage. She also had four blocks in the match, one solo and three assisted.
Blair Wilkes knocked down eight kills and a team-high six blocks. Leiana Oswald added six kills and Michelle Johnson finished with five.
The Utes were led by Sylva Strzinkova's 12 kills and six digs.
UNLV continues play in the state of Utah with a Saturday evening match at No. 14 BYU. The match is set for 6:00 p.m. PST.
