Volleyball Falls To San Diego State

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - UNLV volleyball fell to San Diego State 3-1 (30-17, 30-25, 28-30, 30-21) in Mountain West Conference play on Friday night.

The loss drops the Rebels to 5-7 on the season, 2-3 in league play. The Aztecs improve to 10-4 overall, 4-1 in the MWC.

Michelle Johnson led the Rebels with 16 kills and a .379 (16-5-29) attack percentage. She also added three block assists.

Sheila Ocasio-Clemente, who currently leads the nation in blocks, knocked down nine blocks on the night, one solo and eight assisted.

Freshman setter Nicki King finished the match with 40 assists. Patricia Assuncao and Leiana Oswald contributed 13 kills apiece.

Blair Wilkes added eight kills with a .583 (8-1-12) attack percentage.

Shannon Chase led the team defensively with 11 digs.

San Diego State was led by Zlatina Anguelova who knocked down 24 kills

UNLV's Tuesday match against the New Zealand Institute of Sport has been cancelled. The Rebels continue their road swing, traveling to Utah next weekend for matches with BYU and the University of Utah.
