LAS VEGAS - Marcus Saxon made a free throw with 4.7 seconds remaining to put the game away as the Global Sports All-Stars defeated the UNLV men's basketball team 73-69 in its final exhibition game of this season Tuesday night at the Thomas & Mack Center.
Dalron Johnson made a 3-pointer for UNLV to give the Runnin' Rebels their first lead of the second half at 58-55 with 4:30 left to play, but Global Sports went on a 15-7 run to take a 70-65 lead with 28 seconds left.
UNLV cut the deficit to three points when Saxon was sent to the line.
Global Sports led by as many as 9 points in the first half and 10 in the second.
Saxon led Global Sports in scoring with 14 points.
Johnson scored a game-high 21 points, Marcus Banks added 18 and Chris Richardson had 10 along with a game-high 9 rebounds for the Runnin' Rebels.
UNLV begins its 2001-02 campaign this Saturday, Nov. 17, as it hosts Wisconsin at the Thomas & Mack Center at 7:35 p.m.
