The crowd of 21,042 gave the Rebels a season total of 122,513 and an average of 24,503 for five home games, which was second all-time at the school. It was only the second time UNLV played in front of at least 20,000 fans at every home game in a season (1981).

UNLV's Sam Brandon returned an interception 70 yards for a touchdown for his first career score.

On the next series, UNLV's Kevin Thomas returned an interception 24 yards for another score. It was his fifth pick of the season, the 12th of his career (third all-time at UNLV). The score was his school-record fifth defensive touchdown of the season and a school-record tying third pick for a TD (Patt Medchill 1970-72).

Bobby Nero had a career high four catches for 75 yards.

The Rebels, who didn't score offensively vs. Utah, now have four defensive touchdowns this season as well as a special teams fumble return for a score.

UNLV, which went 6-0 at home in 2000 but finished 1-4 at Sam Boyd Stadium this fall, has lost 13 of its last 17 home finales.

UNLV has not defeated Utah since 1979 and has lost six straight to the Utes. Utah has outscored the Rebels 132-44 in three meetings as part of the Mountain West Conference.

UNLV RB Joe Haro, who was averaging 118 yards per game, was held to 34 yards, which means the junior needs 16 more yards in the final two games to become the sixth 1,000-yard rusher in school history.

The Rebels were averaging 250 yards per game (fourth in the nation), but were held to a season-low 38 vs. the Utes, the least since gaining only 24 net yards vs. BYU on Oct. 23, 1999.

Jason Thomas rushed for 11 yards today, which made him the first quarterback in UNLV history to reach 1,000 yards in a career (1,003).

Utah rushed for 212 yards, which marked only the third time in the last 23 games that a Rebel opponent broke the 200-yard mark.

The Rebels had a streak of four games with a 100-yard rusher snapped vs. Utah.
