Volleyball Drops Intrastate Rivalry Game

RENO, Nev. - The UNLV volleyball team fell to Nevada, Reno in five games (30-20, 30-27, 18-30, 28-30, 14-16) on Tuesday night. The Rebels won the previous four matches against the Wolfpack prior to Tuesday's loss.

The loss drops UNLV to 8-12 overall, while Nevada, Reno improves to 15-6.

Michelle Johnson and Patricia Assuncao each finished with 18 kills for the Rebels. Assuncao added 14 digs for her fifth double-double of the season. Johnson added six block assists.

Sheila Ocasio-Clemente, who currently leads the nation in blocks per game, finished the match with nine blocks (one solo and eight assisted). UNLV as a team out-blocked Reno 30-14.

Blair Wilkes finished in double-figures with 12 kills. She too was a force at the net, knocking down six blocks.

Leiana Oswald's nine kills and 15 digs left her one kill shy of a double-double.

Nicki King handled a majority of the setter duties, finishing with 51 assists and 12 digs.

The Wolfpack was led by Kellie LaBossiere, who finished with 20 kills and 13 digs.

UNLV hosts BYU and Utah this weekend to wrap up the regular season. The Rebels play BYU on Friday and Utah on Saturday with both matches scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
