UNLV Takes Down Georgia Southern, 79-64

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Lou Kelly scored 19 points as UNLV beat Georgia Southern 79-64 on Saturday.

Kelly made only 4 of 17 shots, including 2 of 9 from 3-point range, but converted on 9 of 11 free throws. He led UNLV (3-2) with six assists.

Marcus Banks added 13 points for the Rebels and Omari Pearson and Vince Booker each scored 12.

Frank Bennett and Julius Jenkins each had 14 points to lead Georgia Southern (3-3). The Eagles shot 34 percent from the field and turned the ball over 22 times.

UNLV, coming off road losses to Cincinnati and Washington, didn't fare much better. They shot 42 percent and had 24 turnovers.

The Rebels went on a 12-4 run to end the first half and led 39-31 at the intermission. Pearson scored seven points in the run and Kelly added a 3-pointer and two free throws.

UNLV started the second half with a 20-8 run to build the lead to 59-39 with 11:02 left in the game. The Rebels scored 10 straight at one point in the run, with Kelly and Vince Booker hitting consecutive 3-pointers.
