COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Senior All-American forward Linda Fr?hlich was named the Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week by the league office Monday.
A native of Oldendorf, Germany, Fr?hlich surpassed former Lady Rebels standout Misty Thomas' 15-year-old career scoring record with 22 points in an 83-50 blowout of intrastate rival Nevada, Reno on Dec. 9. This is her first weekly honor this season and seventh overall of her career, which is a league record.
Fr?hlich tied the all-time school record by scoring her 1,892nd career point with a baseline jumper to open the game and broke the record with a driving layup at the 14:49 mark of the first half. Fr?hlich, who now has 1,912 career points, also added 16 rebounds against the Wolf Pack for her fifth double-double of the season. She has 904 career rebounds to-date and could become the first Lady Rebel to accumulate 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.
She currently leads the Mountain West Conference with 21.6 points and 11.6 rebounds per game and has been the conference leader in scoring average each of the last three years.
