Dec. 31, 2001

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - For the second time this season, UNLV women's basketball guard Constance Jinks earned Mountain West Conference Player of the Week honors by the league office Monday.

Jinks earned her fourth career weekly award after leading the Lady Rebels to a 71-62 win over UC Santa Barbara on Dec. 30, the team's sixth straight victory. The junior from Chicago, Ill., had a game-high 33 points and eight rebounds against the Gauchos, who advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season. She connected on 13-of-23 shots from the field, 1-of-2 three-pointers and hit all six free throws. Her 33 points and eight rebounds also tied career-highs set in 2000 as a sophomore.

The third leading scorer in the MWC, Jinks is averaging 17.1 points per game and 5.27 assists per game. The Lady Rebels (10-1), now in first place in the league standings, open conference play on Sunday, Jan. 6 at New Mexico (10-3). The nationally-televised game will be broadcast live from The Pit in Albuquerque on ESPN2 at noon (PST).
