Baseball Struggles At UCLA

LAS VEGAS - The UNLV baseball team (2-3) dropped game two at UCLA 10-2 at Jackie Robinson Field on Saturday. The Bruins improve to 5-2 for the season.

The Rebels struggled for the second day against a potent Bruins pitching attack. UCLA's Jon Brandt pitched eight innings, giving up only two runs on four hits and kept the Rebels scoreless through six innings.

Courtney Hall picked up the loss for UNLV. He pitched six innings and give up four runs on four hits. C.J. Martin pitched a third of an inning and gave up two runs on two hits. Brad Maloff finished the game, giving up four runs on six hits in 1.2 innings.

The Rebels scored a single run in both the seventh and eighth innings. Trent Kitsch opened the seventh with a double to left field and scored on a Joe Jacobitz single to center field. Kitsch was also walked in the eighth with bases loaded, scoring George Fletcher for UNLV's only other run. Kitsch finished the game 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Garett Shitanishi, Tony Schuler and Brent Johnson also ended the game with one hit apiece. Eric Reece led the Bruins, going 3-for-5 with five RBI and two runs scored.

UNLV and UCLA wrap up the three-game series on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Sunday's game will be broadcast on KSHP AM 1400.
