LAS VEGAS - The UNLV baseball team defeated Lewis-Clark State, the defending NAIA National Champions, 6-4 on Tuesday evening at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. The win improves the Rebels to 3-4 on the season, while the Warriors fall to 2-1.
Brad Beasley led the UNLV attack, going 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Beasley had a solo home run in the sixth, followed by a single to left field in the eighth that gave the Rebels the go-ahead run and eventual victory.
Jake Gann started on the mound for the Rebels. He pitched five innings, giving up only one run on three hits. C.J. Martin (1-0) recorded the win. Martin pitched the final 1.1 innings, giving up no hits with one strikeout. LCSC's Mike Chavez (0-1) picked up the loss.
UNLV's Joe Jacobitz finished 2-for-4 and scored once. Trent Kitsch and Brad Hertel also finished with a single hit each.
UNLV wraps up the two-game series against Lewis-Clark State Wednesday, Feb. 14. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:05 p.m.
