Former QB Stockham Heads to Hall

March 9, 2001

LAS VEGAS - Former UNLV quarterback and local businessman Bob Stockham will be inducted into his junior college's hall of fame Saturday.

Stockham, a native of Healdsburg, Calif., is one of seven inductees in this year's class entering the Santa Rosa (Calif.) Junior College Hall of Fame. Stockham was a JC All-American in 1990 after leading the nation in passing with 3,506 yards and 35 touchdowns for the Bear Cubs. He finished his Santa Rosa career with 5,491 yards and 54 touchdowns in parts of two seasons.

At UNLV, Stockham played for head coach Jim Strong from 1992-93 and passed for 3,455 yards and 26 touchdowns, which currently puts him seventh all-time in passing yards at the school. He is one of only three Rebel signal-callers to have passed for more than 400 yards in a game twice in a career, joining Sam King and Jon Denton.

Stockham is an executive for Las Vegas' Young Electric Sign Company.
