Baseball Sweeps Air Force in Doubleheader

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UNLV held Air Force to 12 hits in two games as the Rebels swept the Falcons in doubleheader action on Saturday, 9-3 and 12-3. The two teams played a doubleheader Saturday and cancelled Sunday's game due to the forecast for bad weather.

In both games, UNLV broke open close games in the late innings. The Rebels scored seven runs in the last three innings of the first game for the 9-3 victory in a seven-inning game. UNLV then scored seven runs in the final three innings of the second game for a 12-3 win in the nine-inning contest.

Jared Bonnell (3-4) earned the complete game win in the first game. He pitched seven innings, giving up three runs on six hits with five strikeouts. Courtney Hall moved to 7-5 with the second game win. He pitched five innings, giving up two runs on five hits with a pair of strikeouts.

David Trujillo extended his conference-leading hitting streak to 17 games. He was 5-for-10 with six RBIs and three runs scored on the day.

Joe Jacobitz went 4-for-9 with three RBIs and three runs scored. He picked up a pair of hits in each game.

Garett Shitanishi extended his hitting streak to nine games, going 1-for-3 in the first game and 2-for-4 in the second.

The Rebels wrap up a ten-game road trip when they travel to UC-Riverside for a single game on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. UNLV returns to Earl E. Wilson Stadium on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. The game kicks off a three-game series against Utah.
