LAS VEGAS - The Mountain West Conference announced the 2001 Academic All-Conference team for baseball on Thursday. To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and be a starter or significant contributor to the team.

Thirty-four student-athletes earned MWC academic honors in 2001, including a league-high nine Rebels. UNLV honorees include: Brad Beasley, Jared Bonnell, Courtney Hall, Chad Harris, Brad Hertel, Ryan Ruiz, Garett Shitanishi, Ben Scheinbaum and Robbie Van.

Chad Harris and Garett Shitanishi are both repeat selections, with Shitanishi also garnering 2001 First Team Verizon Academic All-District honors.
