DEERLIJK, Belgium - After opening its European tour with a pair of 20-point blowouts, the UNLV women's basketball team survived a battle with Deerlijk BBC on Saturday, pulling out a 70-69 victory at Gaverhal Gymnasium.
Despite the close score, the Lady Rebels never trailed in the game. Deerlijk managed to even the score with 3:22 to play in the third quarter, but UNLV, now 3-0 on its tour, never surrendered its advantage.
Senior All-American Linda Fr?hlich again paced UNLV in the scoring column, pouring in 25 points and grabbing 10 boards. Sophomore guard Cosntance Jinks was the only other Rebel in double figures with 10 points, but junior post player Dishawn McCracklin turned in an outstanding performance with eight points and nine rebounds.
UNLV, which is on Day Eight of the 12-day, five-game tour of Europe, will play both of the next two days in Belgium. The Rebels play against Blankenberge BBC on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. DST (8:00 a.m. PDT), and conclude their competition against Waregem BBC on Monday at 8:30 p.m. DST. The squad returns home on Wednesday.
