COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UNLV moves to 2-0 in Mountain West Conference play with a 3-1 victory (30-18, 22-30, 30-25, 30-27) over Air Force on Saturday night.
The win improves the Rebels' overall record to 5-3. Air Force falls to 1-8 on the season, 0-2 in league play. The Falcons have lost 19 straight conference matches dating back to last season.
Sophomore Leiana Oswald led the Rebels offensively with 15 kills. She also added nine digs with three blocks.
Junior Blair Wilkes turned in another outstanding performance as well, finishing the match with 14 kills for a .440 (14-3-25) attack percentage along with four blocks and eight digs.
Nicki King and Sheila Ocasio-Clemente each finished with five blocks in the match. King added 46 assists and nine digs, while Ocasio-Clemente added seven kills on the night.
Patricia Assuncao led the team defensively with 12 digs and eight kills.
Air Force was led by Kaitlin McEwen, who finished with a match-high 17 kills and six block assists.
UNLV returns home to the Cox Pavilion on Friday, September 28 to take on Wyoming. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
