Volleyball Falls To Colorado State

LAS VEGAS - UNLV fell to No. 10 Colorado State in three games (30-18, 30-11, 30-21) on Saturday night in the Cox Pavilion. The loss dropped the Rebels to 5-5 on the season, 2-2 in Mountain West Conference play. The Rams improved to 10-0, 2-0 in league play.

UNLV was out-hit .396 to .101 in the match and gave up nine aces on the night.

Blair Wilkes led the Rebels with eight kills and a .467 (8-1-15) attack percentage. Leiana Oswald and Michelle Johnson added five kills each.

Amy Lewis, in her second collegiate start, finished the match with 22 assists, three kills and five digs.

Patricia Assuncao led the team defensively with eight digs. She also had four kills.

Sheila Ocasio-Clemente, who currently leads the nation in blocks, finished the match with three blocks and one kill.

Colorado State was led by Soraya Santos, who finished with 15 kills and five digs.

UNLV travels to San Diego, Calif., next week for a pair of matches, taking on the University of San Diego on Thursday and San Diego State on Friday.
