LAS VEGAS - Linda Fr?hlich scored 24 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the UNLV women's basketball team to its eighth straight win with a 76-72 overtime decision over Northern Arizona at the Cox Pavilion on Friday.
With the win, UNLV (12-1) remains unbeaten at home this season. The Lady Rebels are a perfect 7-0 in their new facility, and also won their only performance in their old arena, the Thomas & Mack Center.
The Rebels led by as many as 10 in the first half and took a 36-30 edge into the break. They rebuilt the lead to nine with 7:18 remaining in regulation before a 12-2 run over 3:15 gave the Lumberjacks (7-5) their first lead since the opening minutes.
UNLV failed to hit a field goal in the final four minutes of regulation, but hit some key free throws down the stretch to keep the game tight. A Talisha Mitchell free throw with 35 seconds left in regulation knotted the game at 62.
In the extra frame, UNLV opened with six straight makes at the charity stripe and never looked back. Only two field goals were needed to go with the 10-for-12 free-throw performance to seal the win for the Rebels.
Despite the solid night at the line (30-for-35), UNLV was unable to convert any of its six three-point attempts.
Fr?hlich emphasized the good free throw shooting, going 14-for-15 from the line. Center Petra Gl?ser chipped in with 14 points, and Constance Jinks added 11. Junior guard Julia Gray scored nine while recording nine steals, and Dishawn McCracklin's eight points were a career high.
The Lumberjacks were led in scoring by Jen Snitker, who scored 19 points and pulled down six boards.
The Rebels open Mountain West Conference play on Sunday when they travel to Albuquerque, N.M., to challenge New Mexico in a ESPN2 nationally televised game. Tip is scheduled for 12:00 noon PST at The Pit.
