Oct. 1, 2002

LAS VEGAS - The Rebel volleyball team is looking to snap a seven-match losing streak after falling just short in a five-game loss to BYU. UNLV has been outhit by the opposition in seven straight matches despite having two players, senior Blair Wilkes and sophomore Sheila Ocasio-Clemente, rank in the league's top 10 for hitting percentage.

Last week, Wilkes hit a season-high .474 with a match-high 22 kills vs. BYU. Junior Patricia Assuncao has reached double figures in seven of eight matches, including 14 kills vs. BYU and 12 vs. Utah. In their last seven losses, the Rebels have managed a .156 hitting percentage and only 1.86 blocks per game. In the four victories this season, UNLV hit .331 with 2.29 blocks per game.

The Rebels are on the road for their next three matches, beginning with a trip to Wyoming and Colorado State this week.
