GAME PREVIEW

UNLV (3-4) looks to reach the .500 mark this late in the season for only the second time in the last eight years when it travels to San Diego State (2-5) Saturday ... Although UNLV has a better overall record, the Aztecs are 2-0 in the MWC ... UNLV has posted a 1-1 start in the league for the fourth straight year after winning its first road game of the season last week, 24-3, at BYU, which was the program's first victory over the Cougars since 1981... After opening up with five straight losses, SDSU is coming off its second straight win, 24-20, at Wyoming ... The Rebels will look for their third consecutive win over SDSU ... Saturday's game, which is Homecoming for the Aztecs, will not be televised ... After all 11 games were broadcast live in Las Vegas for the first time in program history in 2001, this will mark the fourth time in eight games this fall that the Rebels were not on TV.

AZTECS vs. REBELS NOTES

UNLV leads the series 6-5 and has won two straight and five of the last seven meetings, including last year's 28-point victory, which was the Rebels' biggest ever ... SDSU is one of only two MWC schools against which UNLV has a winning record (UW) ... The winning team in this series has averaged 32 points and has never scored less than 20 ... The Rebels' last visit to Qualcomm included a thrilling finish that saw senior DB Amar Brisco return an interception 72 yards for the winning score, which helped UNLV continue its march toward a Las Vegas Bowl bid ... Tragically, Brisco was shot and killed this summer in Las Vegas and players are wearing his No. 5 on its helmets to honor their former teammate ... UNLV head coach John Robinson is 2-1 vs. the Aztecs after never having faced the nearby school while at USC for 12 years ... More than half of UNLV's roster is made up of California products and no less than 10 hail from San Diego County, including six who may travel: WR Michael Johnson (Oceanside), DB Jamal Wynn (National City), QB Tyler Arciaga (Bonita Vista), DL Garrett Brassington (La Mesa), OL Zach Gorham (Lakeside) and PK Bryan Cortney (San Diego).
