LAS VEGAS (AP) - Dalron Johnson scored 22 points to lead UNLV, which rallied from a 10-point second-half deficit, past Florida International 83-77 Wednesday.
Also for UNLV (14-8), senior guard Jevon Banks scored a career-high 16 points, starting for guard Marcus Banks, no relation, who sat out due to a sprained left ankle. Lou Kelly added 13 points and seven rebounds.
Florida International (10-17) was led by Carlos Morban led with 22 points, 16 of them in the first half on 5-for-11 shooting from the field. Rodrigo Diegas and Taurance Johnson each added 17.
After the Golden Panthers built a 49-40 second half lead, UNLV responded with an 11-0 run. Later in the half, Florida International took a 60-55 lead before the Runnin' Rebels went on an 8-0 run, taking the lead for good 61-60 on Louis Amundson's three-point play with 7:24 remaining.
UNLV extended the lead to 81-70 with 32 seconds left.
In the second half, UNLV was 21-for-25 from the free-throw line.
