Fourth MWC Honor Awarded To Jinks

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - For the fourth time this season, UNLV women's basketball standout Constance Jinks was named Mountain West Conference Player of the Week by the league office Monday.

Jinks, a junior guard from Chicago, Ill., scored a game-high 22 points and 10 rebounds in the Lady Rebels' 71-59 upset of 15th-ranked Colorado State on Feb. 14. She recorded her first career double-double against the nationally ranked Rams, the team's first ever home win versus CSU. In a 66-61 victory over Wyoming on Feb. 16, Jinks tallied 10 points to help UNLV to its 20th win of the season.

For the week, Jinks shot 50 percent from the field (13-of-26) and behind the 3-point arc (3-of-6). She also shot 75 percent from the free throw line making 3-of-4 attempts. In the pair of wins combined, Jinks averaged 16.0 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game, while adding eight assists and six steals. This marks her sixth weekly honor of her UNLV career.

STILL SEARCHING: Although upsetting 15th-ranked Colorado State, 71-59, on Feb. 14 and defeating league rival Wyoming, 66-61, on Feb. 16, the Lady Rebels continue to receive votes in both the USA TODAY/ESPN Coaches Top 25 Poll (42) for 29th best in the nation and Associated Press Poll (30) for 31st. With its current 20-4 overall, 8-3 MWC record, UNLV moved up to 36 in the latest RPI ratings index and is tied for second-place in the Mountain West Conference standings with New Mexico.
