LAS VEGAS - UNLV running back and kick returner Dominique Dorsey will not compete in football spring practice with the Rebels, which begins April 2.

The native of Tulare, Calif., has withdrawn from school for the spring semester and has returned home for personal reasons. However, he remains a member of the team and is expected to return to campus by the fall semester.

Dorsey, who would be a sophomore in eligibility next season, was named 2001 Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year after posting a school-record kickoff return average of 34.6. Despite playing with various injuries, he gained 379 yards rushing for a team-leading 6.6 YPC average and scored four touchdowns.
