Rebels Defeat New Mexico, 91-82

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Dalron Johnson scored 24 points as UNLV beat New Mexico 91-82 on Saturday, ending the regular season with its fourth straight win.

Jevon Banks scored 15 points for the Rebels (18-9, 9-6 Mountain West), who held a double-digit lead through most of the second half.

The Lobos (16-12, 6-8) shot only 38 percent in the first half, but were 62.5 percent (20-of-32) in the second and pulled within 66-65 with 5:46 remaining.

Chris Richardson scored inside, was fouled and completed the three-point play to put the Rebels up 69-65 with 5:01 left. Richardson finished with 14 points.

Patrick Dennehy scored inside to pull the Lobos back within two, but Richardsson and Johnson converted two straight three-point plays to give UNLV a 75-67 lead with 3:50 remaining.

The Lobos could get no closer than seven the rest of the way.

Ruben Douglas led New Mexico with 32 points, including five 3-pointers. Eric Chatfield added 18 points and Dennehy 13 for the Lobos.

The win gave the Rebels the third seed in next week's Mountain West Conference tournament, where they will rematch 6-seed New Mexico in the opening round.
