LAS VEGAS - Courtney Hall picked up a complete game win in UNLV baseball's 11-5 victory over New Mexico on Friday night. With the win, the Rebels improve to 12-16, 2-5 in Mountain West Conference play. The Lobos fall to 15-15 on the season, 5-2 in league play.
Hall's complete game was the first of the season for the Rebels. He gave up five runs (two earned) off 10 hits in nine innings of work. He also struck out nine, while giving up only one walk.
Lobo starter James Vermilyea (5-4) earned the loss. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up nine runs and striking out seven.
Brent Johnson led the Rebels offensively, going 3-for-5 with four RBIs and one run scored.
Garett Shitanishi and Tony Schuler added a pair of hits each. Shitanishi went 2-for-5 with three runs scored, while Schuler was 2-for-3 with one RBI and two runs scored. Six other Rebels added a single hit each.
New Mexico was led by Chris Alexander, who finished the game 3-for-4 with two RBIs and one run scored.
UNLV and New Mexico continue the three-game series on Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m.
