LANCASTER, Calif. - Cal State Northridge defeated UNLV 8-2 in the championship game of the Clash of the Conferences tournament in Lancaster, Calif., on Sunday. The Rebels move to 9-8 on the season.

Matador pitcher Andy Davidson (2-1) held the Rebels to two unearned runs with six strikeouts and no walks

Courtney Hall (0-2) picked up the loss after giving up four runs on eight hits in three innings of work. Ben Scheinbaum relieved Hall, but also struggled to quell the Matador bats. He gave up three runs on three hits in the fifth inning.

Chad Harris and Doug Thornton combined to finish the game. Harris pitched three innings of hitless ball, giving up only one run on a pair of walks. Thornton finished the final inning with a hit and a walk.

Rebel third baseman Tony Schuler ended the day as the only UNLV player to have more than one hit, going 2-for-4 with a run.

Brent Johnson, Eric Nielsen, David Trujillo, Robert VanKirk, Steve Goldberg and Jason Reuss all contributed a single hit.

CSN's Adam Nikolic finished the game 3-for-4 with two runs while Shaun Larkin went 3-for-3 with a double, two walks, a run and an RBI.

UNLV travels to the Bob Schaefer Memorial Tournament in Tempe, Ariz. next weekend before opening conference play at home with BYU on March 11-12. UNLV will take on St. John's, Arizona State and Oklahoma State in next week's action.
