Baseball Falls To No. 21 Oklahoma State

TEMPE, Ariz. - The UNLV baseball team fell to No. 21 Oklahoma State 10-6 in the final game of the Bob Schaefer Memorial Classic in Tempe, Ariz. on Saturday night. UNLV moved to 10-10 on the season.

The Cowboys opened with a 5-0 lead, scoring four runs in the first inning and another in the second. UNLV tied things up on a five-run third inning and held the Cowboys scoreless through six before another five-run inning on the other side sealed the win for Oklahoma State.

UNLV reliever Jeremy Weinberg (1-1) picked up the loss, giving up two runs on one hit in an inning of work. Starter David Seccombe gave up five runs in three innings.

Oklahoma State's Daniel Rew (1-0) earned the win. He pitched 3.1 innings, giving up only one run on two hits.

UNLV's Brent Johnson finished the game 3-for-5 with two RBIs and one run scored. Eric Nielsen, David Trujillo and Tony Schuler each contributed a pair of hits in the losing effort.

The Cowboys were led by Jason Jaramillo, who went 3-for-3 with an RBI and one run scored.

The Rebels get only one day of rest in preparation for conference play as they host BYU on Monday at 6:30 p.m.
