LAS VEGAS - UNLV's first practice on its state-of-the-art AstroPlay synthetic surface was so successful Saturday, head coach John Robinson gave the team Sunday off.

Playing for the first time at the new Ernie Becker Sr. Football Fields at Bill "Wildcat" Morris Rebel Park, the Rebels endured tremendous heat during the squad's eighth spring session.

"The fields are outstanding," UNLV offensive coordinator Rob Boras said. "The surface is everything we thought it would be and Coach Robinson has turned this place into one of the top practice facilities in the nation."

The Rebels will have five more practices, beginning Tuesday evening, before Kick Off 2002 on Saturday April 27 on campus.
