Baseball Drops Second Straight To Air Force

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The UNLV baseball team dropped its second straight game to Air Force 8-5 on Saturday afternoon. The loss puts the Rebels at 15-18 overall, 4-7 in Mountain West Conference play. The Falcons improve to 17-16 overall, 5-6 in league play.

UNLV held a 1-0 lead through three innings before Air Force posted three runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and another two in the sixth. The Rebels battled back, scoring four runs in the final two innings, but it was not enough. The Falcons posted another two runs in the eighth for the 8-5 final.

Rebel starter Jared Bonnell (3-2) picked up the loss. He pitched 4.2 innings, giving up four runs on six hits with three strikeouts. Only two of the runs were earned. David Seccombe finished the game, giving up four runs on eight hits.

Air Force's Johnny Koegel (4-3) pitched 7.2 innings for the win. He gave up four runs on nine hits with three strikeouts.

Joe Wickman continues to play well, hitting 3-for-4 with one RBI and two runs scored. Ryan Ruiz added a pair of hits. He finished the game 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Five other Rebels added a single hit each.

Air Force was led by Bowie Frost who went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. He also hit his four home run of the season.

The three-game series concludes Sunday at noon at Falcon Field.
