LAS VEGAS - UNLV women's basketball senior forward Linda Fr?hlich will be among the top college seniors in the nation to attend the 2002 WNBA Pre-Draft Camp to be held at the Moody Bible Institute on April 11-13 in Chicago.
The camp offers WNBA coaches and general managers the opportunity to evaluate the skills of prospective players prior to the 2002 WNBA Draft on Friday, April 19. The draft will be broadcast live on ESPN2 for the second consecutive year at the NBA Entertainment studios in Secaucus, N.J. The four-round draft will be begin at 8:30 a.m. (PST). In addition to the network's first round coverage, all four rounds of the draft will be carried live on NBA TV and online at wnba.com.
The Seattle Storm will have the top pick in the first round of the 2002 WNBA Draft followed by the Detroit Shock, Washington Mystics (third and fourth pick), Portland Fire, Minnesota Lynx, Orlando Miracle, Cleveland Rockers, Charlotte Sting, Houston Comets, Utah Starzz, Sacramento Monarchs, Indiana Fever, New York Liberty, Miami Sol and Los Angeles Sparks.
The league will begin its sixth season over Memorial Day weekend on Saturday, May 25. WNBA training camps will open on Monday, April 29 at each team's training facilities, while preseason competition starts on May 9.
