LAS VEGAS - San Diego State scored eight runs in the final four innings to take a 10-5 win over the UNLV baseball team on Friday night at Earl E. Wilson Stadium.
The win drops the Rebels to 28-27 on the season, 13-16 in Mountain West Conference play. The Aztecs improve to 39-21, 19-10 in league play.
UNLV's Courtney Hall threw five solid innings, giving up only two runs on six hits with six strikeouts. Ben Scheinbaum (2-2) picked up the loss in relief. He gave up three run on four hits in 1.0 innings of work.
SDSU's Chris Hartshorn (2-0) earned the win in 0.2 innings of work. He gave up only one run on one hit.
The Rebels scattered 10 hits in the game, with Ryan Ruiz and Joe Wickman contributing a pair each. Ruiz finished 2-for-4 with one RBI and two runs scored, while Wickman went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Six other Rebels added a single hit each.
The Rebels first three runs were scored on solo homers from Ruiz, Brent Johnson and David Trujillo.
The Aztecs were led by Carlo Cota who finished the game 4-for-6 with one RBI and a run scored.
UNLV and San Diego State wrap up the three-game series on Saturday at 2 p.m. Senior recognition ceremonies will precede the start of the game.
