Baseball Tripped Up By BYU

PROVO, Utah - The UNLV baseball team fell to BYU on Friday night 7-5 in Provo. The loss drops the Rebels to 25-24 overall, 10-12 in the Mountain West Conference. The Cougars improve to 18-25-1, 11-11 in league play.

Starter David Seccombe (2-2) picked up the loss for the Rebels. He lasted only 1.2 innings, giving up five runs on six hits with one strikeout. Chad Harris pitched 2.1 innings in relief of Seccombe. He gave up two runs on three hits.

Courtney Hall shut down the Cougars in the final four innings, allowing only a single hit.

Ryan Adams (4-5) earned the win for BYU. He gave up five runs on eight hits in 5.2 innings of work. Scott Koffman earned his first save of the season.

The Rebels managed only eight hits in the game with Brent Johnson and Joe Wickman contributing a pair each. They each finished 2-for-4 with Wickman driving in a run and scoring once.

Ryan Ruiz, Garett Shitanishi and Tony Schuler added a single hit each.

UNLV and BYU will wrap up the season series with a Saturday game scheduled for noon PST.
