Softball Slammed By Utah

May 9, 2002

Box Score

PROVO, Utah - Utah third baseman Lyndsey Trevis' second-inning grand slam powered the Utes to a 8-0, five-inning victory over UNLV in the second round of the Mountain West Conference Softball Tournament at BYU's Gail Miller Field on Thursday.

The Rebels (30-33) never got on track offensively, going hitless until Geney Orris singled in the fourth inning. That was the only hit given up by Utah starter Jen Pursell, who struck out seven Rebels.

Orris gave up eight hits before leaving the game after Trevis lined a hard shot back to the pitcher for a single. Jackie Kerrigan pitched to just one batter in relief, but a throwing error allowed the Utes' eight run of the game to come home, ending the contest.

The Rebels move into consolation bracket play and will face host BYU at 2:00 p.m. MDT on Friday, May 10.
