LAS VEGAS - UNLV women's basketball player Petra Gl?ser has voluntarily withdrawn from the institution citing personal reasons and has been granted her official release from the school.
The 6-foot-6 junior center from Amtsberg, Germany, was the team's third leading scorer (9.5 ppg) and third leading rebounder (4.3 rpg) during the 2001-02 season. Last year, the Lady Rebels appeared in their first NCAA Tournament since 1994 and finished the season with a 23-8 overall record. In her two-year career at UNLV, Gl?ser played in 43 games and averaged 10.1 points per game and 4.5 rebounds per game.
She was also named All-Mountain West Conference honorable mention as a sophomore and recorded a career-high and game-high 21 points at Arizona as a freshman. She received MWC Player of the Week honors on Dec. 11, 2000, for her 11-for-13 performance from the free throw line versus Arizona.
"Petra is a great person and I wish her all the success in the world," UNLV head coach Regina Miller said. "I have enjoyed working with her for the last two years and wish her nothing but the best."
