LAS VEGAS - UNLV head volleyball coach Deitre Collins has announced the hiring of Erika Nash as an assistant coach. Nash will be entering her first season at UNLV after coaching stints at the Oahu Volleyball Club and University High School in Hawaii.
"I am excited to have Erika join my staff," said Collins. "I have known Erika for most of her life and I have seen her evolve into a great young lady. Erika is someone who has dreamed of being a coach. Her father is a basketball coach, so Erika has grown up around athletics and she understands the amount of work and dedication it takes to be a successful coach. Erika came highly recommended to me by her previous coaches. She has experience in every position and will be extremely valuable in recruiting and office management."
Nash played four seasons at Bradley University where, during her freshman year, she helped lead the Braves to their all-time highest finish in Missouri Valley Conference Tournament play. She was also an all-state and all-conference player at University High School. Her senior year, University High School was ranked ninth in the nation.
Father, Bob Nash, is the associate head men's basketball coach at Hawaii and a former player with the Detroit Pistons. He was the seventh overall pick by the Pistons in the 1972 NBA Draft.
Nash is a 1999 graduate of Bradley University with a BS in graphic design. She is single and resides in Las Vegas.
