Women Hoopsters Make the Grade

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Two UNLV women's basketball players have been named to the 2001-02 Mountain West Conference All-Academic team as announced by the conference office Friday.

Graduating senior Courtney Swanson (San Diego, Calif.) made her second consecutive appearance on the league academic team with a 3.01 grade-point average. Swanson, a reserve forward for the Lady Rebels from 1998-2002, completed her career at UNLV earning a bachelor's degree in communications.

Former sophomore center Petra Gl?ser (Amtsberg, Germany) also made the grade with an impressive 3.55 GPA in international business, her second time to be recognized as an academic all-conference scholar.

To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better and be a starter or significant contributor to the team.
