LAS VEGAS - Former UNLV star wide receiver Nate Turner has been signed to the active roster of the NFL's New Orleans Saints, the team announced Friday.
Turner (6-3, 210), who led the Mountain West Conference in receptions, yards and touchdowns in 2000, had been a member of the Saints' practice squad since mid-season. He spent the 2001 campaign with the San Diego Chargers, appearing in the season's final game.
Also, Turner's former teammate, defensive lineman Ahmad Miller (6-3, 206), was signed this week to the practice squad of the New York Giants. Miller, who gained fame as the final pick in last year's NFL Draft by the expansion franchise in Houston, was injured during last summer's training camp and never played in the regular season for the Texans. Last spring Miller was one of a school-record four Rebels from the defensive side of the ball to be drafted by NFL teams.
