Rebels Drop Regular-Season Finale

LAS VEGAS - The UNLV women's volleyball team fell to Utah 3-2 (30-17, 27-30, 30-23, 27-30, 16-14) on Saturday night at the Cox Pavilion.

UNLV forced extra points in the fifth game, but Utah's Amie Toone and Lyndsey Henderson put up three straight blocks to end the match.

Leiana Oswald put up a season-high 27 kills on the night the Rebels honored her as one of the three senior members of the team playing in their final conference home match. She also added four digs and four blocks, one solo and three assisted.

Tarin Keith put up 15 kills and eight digs, while Sheila Ocasio-Clemente added 13 kils and five blocks.

Nina Franchini tallied 16 digs at the libero spot and setter Nicki King finished with 55 assists.

Utah was led by Kim Turner's 25 kills and six blocks.

UNLV enters the MWC Tournament as the fifth-seed and will play fourth-seed and tournament-host San Diego State on Thursday at 7 p.m. The MWC will televise the match on Cox Channel 48. The Rebels dropped both meetings with the Aztecs the season, 0-3 and 1-3.
