Final Stats

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Odartey Blankson had 24 points and 14 rebounds to lead UNLV over Western Illinois 75-55 Wednesday night.

Blankson was 10-of-17 from the field and 4-of-5 from the free-throw line with two blocks and two steals.

After trailing most of the first half, the Rebels (2-1) went on 20-0 run stretching from 7:22 of the first half to 17:52 remaining in the game.

UNLV led by as many as 24 as they pulled away from the Leathernecks (0-4) in the second half.

The Rebels dominated inside, outscoring Western Illinois 46-18 in the paint and out-rebounding the Leathernecks 45-32.

Demetrius Hunter had 15 points for UNLV and Louis Amundson scored 10 points with 12 rebounds. Michael Umeh added 11 points.

Bobby Carter led the Leathernecks with 19 points and was 4-for-4 from behind the 3-point line. Doyle Cole added 12.

The Leathernecks took their first lead at 18-17 lead with 10:33 left in the first half.

They built their largest lead, 26-19, with 7:43 to go in the half.
