McCracklin Named Mountain West Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UNLV's Sherry McCracklin was named the Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

McCracklin, a 6-2 junior forward from Hazel Crest, Ill., led UNLV to the Lady Rebel Shootout championship this past weekend, and was named the tournament MVP after posting back-to-back double-doubles in both games. In UNLV's 78-64 come-from-behind win over San Diego on Nov. 29, she poured in 14 points and 15 rebounds. In the championship game against Richmond, McCracklin turned in her best game of the season with 16 points, a career-high 16 rebounds, two steals, and a season-high three blocks. For the weekend, she averaged 15 points and 15.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 60% from the floor (9-15).

McCracklin has posted four double-doubles in four games played this year for the Lady Rebels. She is averaging a conference-high 15 rebounds per game, almost twice as much as the next highest player, and is sixth in the league in scoring at 15.5 points per game and tied for first in blocks with 1.5 per game.

UNLV, 3-1 on the season, takes to the road for an intrastate contest at Nevada, Reno, on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m.
