UNLV Falls To Northern Arizona 74-73

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Aaron Bond capped a 16-point comeback with a layup in the final seconds to give Northern Arizona a 74-73 upset victory over UNLV Thursday night.

Bond's layup with 1.6 seconds to play gave the Lumberjacks their only lead of the game.

Northern Arizona (4-5) trailed 73-67 with less than two minutes to play, but a jumper from Adrian Hayes and a 3-pointer from Kelly Golob set up Bond's game winner.

UNLV (5-3) scored its last field goal with 2:58 left and went 9-of-18 from the foul line in the second half.

The Lumberjacks trailed 45-29 at halftime but came to life in the second half behind 16-of-24 shooting, including 15 second-half points from Stephan Garnett.

Garnett scored seven straight points with eight minutes to play to pull Northern Arizona within two, 64-62.

Garnett had a team-high 21 points and Bond added 15.

UNLV made its first nine shots of the game, not missing a field goal attempt until the 12:20 mark of the first half. The Rebels raced out to a 27-11 lead.

Odartey Blankson had a game-high 23 points and 11 rebounds for UNLV. Romel Beck added 13 and Jerel Blassingame had 12.
