LAS VEGAS - Quarterbacks coach Vince Alcalde has resigned from the UNLV football staff, Rebel head coach John Robinson announced Friday.

Robinson said he plans on restructuring the staff's offensive duties, which will include the head coach getting more involved with the quarterbacks in 2004.

"With me taking a more dominant role in the passing game next season, Vince thought, and I agreed, that it would be better for his coaching career to move on, rather than adjust his responsibilities here," Robinson said. "We wish him well."

Alcalde was hired Jan. 21, 2002, and spent the last two years overseeing the Rebel quarterbacks and passing game.
