LAS VEGAS - The UNLV baseball team dropped a 23-3 decision to #3 Cal State Fullerton on Friday night at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. With the loss, the Rebels fall to 5-2 on the season, while the Titans improve to 7-0.
UNLV starter Robbie Van (0-1) picked up the loss. He threw 1.2 innings, giving up eight runs on three hits with one strikeout.
Wes Littleton (2-0) picked up the win. He went 7.0 innings, giving up two runs on five hits with six strikeouts.
Eric Nielsen and Andrew D'Angelo extended their consecutive-game hitting-streaks to five games. Nielsen homered in the eighth and finished 1-for-1 with an RBI and a run scored, while D'Angelo went 1-for-3 with a run scored.
Eddie Gill, who hit the game-winning grand slam against Charleston on Sunday, went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Brent Johnson, Fernando Valenzuela and Patrick Dobson contributed a single hit each.
Fullerton was led by Shane Costa, who finished the game 3-for-7 with four RBI and four runs scored.
UNLV and Cal State Fullerton continue the three-game series on Saturday at 2 p.m.
