Rebels Run Past Cougars, 61-54

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Marcus Banks scored 17 of his game-high 19 points in the second half, leading UNLV to a 61-54 victory over BYU Friday.

Banks' 3-pointer with 5:38 to play gave the Rebels (15-7, 4-4) a 53-43 advantage and he added to the lead seconds later with a steal and uncontested layup.

The Cougars (17-6, 6-2) managed just three field goals over the first 10 minutes of the second half, but only trailed 41-38 with 10:52 to play. However, UNLV went on a 20-8 run over the next eight minutes to seal the victory.

Dalron Johnson scored 19 for the Rebels and J.K. Edwards added nine points. Travis Hansen led BYU with 18 points and Jared Jensen had 12.
