LAS VEGAS - The UNLV baseball team fell to No. 3 Cal State Fullerton 14-1 on Saturday afternoon at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. With the loss, the Rebels drop to 5-3 on the season, while the Titans improve to 8-0.
Jake Vose (1-2) picked up the loss. He threw 4.2 innings, giving up nine runs on nine hits. Matt Wagner threw 3.1 scoreless innings with three hits. Matt Luca finished the game, giving up five runs on five hits in 1.0 inning of work.
Cal State Fullerton's Ryan Schreppel (3-0) earned the win. He went 5.0 innings, giving up one run on three hits.
UNLV managed only four hits on the day. Eric Nielsen finished 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI. Brent Johnson and Patrick Dobson contributed a single hit each.
The Titans were led by Kurt Suzuki, who finished the game 3-for4 with two RBIs and one run scored.
UNLV and Cal State Fullerton wrap up the three-game series on Sunday at 1 p.m. David Seccombe (UNLV) and Dustin Miller (CSF) are scheduled as the starting pitchers.
