Texas Tech Stuns Rebel Offense

Feb. 8, 2003

PHOENIX - Texas Tech starting pitcher Aime Stines threw a complete game one-hitter to defeat the UNLV softball team 6-0 at the Fiesta Bowl Tournament on Saturday.

Stines overpowered the Rebel lineup throughout the game and was touched just once, when sophomore Morgan Bostwick belted a long double to lead off the fifth.

Bostwick was the only Rebel to reach second base, as two walks and a fielding error accounted for all of UNLV's base runners.

The Red Raiders (3-6) used one big inning to put the game in hand, racking up five runs on five straight hits in the third.

UNLV (2-6) concludes play in the Fiesta Bowl Tournament on Sunday when it faces Southwest Texas State at 12:00 noon MST.
