Rebels Sweep Falcons

LAS VEGAS - The UNLV baseball team earned the three-game sweep over Air Force with a 7-3 victory on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Rebels improve to 16-7 overall, 3-0 in Mountain West Conference play. The Falcons fall to 8-12, 0-6 in league play.

Jake Vose (4-3) earned the win for the Rebels. He threw seven innings, giving up three runs on eight hits with nine strikeouts. Jason Guerra threw 0.2 innings in relief of Vose without giving up a hit.

Robbie Van picked up his first save of the season, throwing 1.1 hitless innings in relief.

Air Force's Jason Pruitt (0-2) picked up the loss. He gave up two runs on two hits in one inning of work.

Brent Johnson finished the game 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run scored. He hit a two-run homer to left field in the sixth inning.

Robert VanKirk hit a three-run homer in the eighth and finished the game 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored.

Peter White went 2-for-3 in the game, while Andrew D'Angelo, Eric Nielsen and Garett Shitanishi contributed a single hit each.

Mike Rose and Daniel Petro each finished with three hits for the Falcons. Rose went 3-for-5 with a run scored, while Petro went 3-for-3 with an RBI.

UNLV travels to Malibu, Calif. in Tuesday for a 2 p.m. game with Pepperdine.
