LAS VEGAS - The UNLV baseball improved its record to 20-8 with a 3-2 win over UC Irvine on Tuesday night. The Rebels scored the go-ahead run in the eighth inning on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch. Peter White was hit, scoring Eric Nielsen who reached on an error.

The loss drops UC Irvine's record to 10-17 on the season.

Robbie Van (3-3) earned the win for the Rebels. He threw one inning with three strikeouts and a walk. Ryan Braun picked up his third save, striking out the final two batters in the ninth.

Jimmy Alstot (1-4) picked up the loss. He gave up one unearned run on one hit with two strikeouts.

Peter White and Ryan Ruiz contributed a pair of hits in the game. White went 2-for-3 with one RBI and two runs scored, while Ruiz finished the game 2-for-4.

Robert Van Kirk and Eric Nielsen added a single hit each.

UNLV hosts San Diego State for a three-game series beginning on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
